The main theory of learning that I most agree with is Cognitivism because the Bloom’s taxonomy focuses on the thinking domain of learning. This theory is based on cognitive activities that learners need to progress through each level of understanding, and I agree that it is efficient and seems to the mental cognitive process. In my previous experience as a student and teacher, I could experience the efficiency of understanding when the activities are designed using each of Bloom’s taxonomy levels. It also is under the development of critical thinking because it provides how to approach the last level of understanding, create, added after reviewed by Anderson and Krathwohl (2000).

Further, this theory is following “How people learn” because it uses students’ previous knowledge and provides activities to create new concepts and ideas and develop their understanding. Also, the Cognitivism allows teachers to create activities that support inquiry competence when they can apply their knowledge in new situations. Finally, the Bloom’s taxonomy analysis and evaluating stage has a clear metacognitive methodology, with students active in their learning process. While designing the lessons teachers need to provide different kinds of activities. To promote the emotional domain is important to deliver activities in small groups to share students’ ideas and develop connection and engagement. It also increases creativity working in a team and when applying new concepts or ideas. During the stage of applying and creating the student have the opportunity to evaluate their understanding and go back at firsts steps to improve on it. Thus, Cognitivism is also efficient in learner autonomy.

The planning model of 5 E’s Diagram has many connections with Constructivism Theory. First, in the engage stage, the inquiry process is related to this theory when existing students’ knowledge and curiosity are part of the understanding process. Also, the social interaction through discussions during the engage stage remains to Social Constructivism Theory. Second, during the exploration and extend the stage, the teacher, as a coach, claims to this theory in which each individual is responsible for their understanding by intuitive and deductive thinking, resolving inconsistencies, testing ideas, and seeking new information.  Finally, the 5’s Diagram, in a circle form, shows that the understanding process is dynamic, following the Constructivism Theory.

“Learning is not a passive process. Enjoy the journey as you guide your students using pedagogies of inquiry.” (Gerber,G. 2017)
