Social media use & Cyberbullying
The use of technology in the classroom goes beyond students’ engagement purpose. In 21st century education, technology is a tool to teachers guide students’ safety and ethical use of technology. Indeed according to BC Digital Literacy Framework, this is one of the standards for digital citizen awareness through schools. In this project, instructors should facilitate students in this critical awareness through discussions and designing a summative assessment of a social media blog about the topic. Teachers would design a public service campaign announcement using a social media platform of their choosing. The goal is to bring awareness to a social issue that is of major concern in the K-12 school system. For example, bullying (anti-bullying) could be the focus of the campaign. The goal of the campaign will be to assist students in learning more about a specific societal problem.
